Model Operations Scorecard

Court administrators can enhance their public or internal operational reporting by using standardized scorecards that evaluate front-line operations, as well as the use of quality management practices, to benchmark their performance.

Appellate Circuit Court Operations Scorecard

Developed in 2023 as part of a fellowship with the National Center for State Court's Institute for Court Management (read the research), the Appellate Circuit Operations Scorecard allows federal appellate courts to report macro-level data about their operations on an annual basis.  The reported data considers processing times at different variables across the life of an appellate case, key front-line operational performance indicators, and the court's use of third-party quality management standards to enhance operations.  Data from the Scorecard can be used for benchmarking the court's performance against sister courts and to promote public trust and confidence through the transparent reporting of this information, such as in the court's annual report.  A blank scorecard is available for download.
